Terms of Use
Effective October 22, 2026
The short version: Axle Balance gives estimates, not certified weights. You are responsible for your truck being legal. Always weigh on a certified scale after you slide your tandems or fifth wheel. Quick balance is free; Pro is a subscription you can cancel any time.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Axle Balance (the website at axlebalance.com and the installable app that runs from it) is operated by Gourdneck Valley Woodworking LLC, an Arkansas limited liability company (“we,” “us,” “our”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and us. By opening or using Axle Balance, including the free Quick balance tool and the paid Axle Balance Pro features, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
If you use Axle Balance for a company (for example, a fleet or carrier), you confirm you have authority to accept these Terms for that company, and “you” includes the company.
2. What Axle Balance does — and what it doesn’t
Axle Balance helps tractor-trailer drivers and dispatchers estimate axle-group weights, tandem and fifth-wheel positions, bridge formula compliance and kingpin load. It uses the numbers you enter, typical equipment values and simplified physics.
- Estimates only. Results are approximations. They can differ from real scale weights because of equipment differences, suspension, fuel, load shift, measurement errors, wrong inputs and other factors.
- Not a certified scale and not legal advice. Nothing in the app is a certified weight, a legal opinion, or a statement that any vehicle or load complies with federal, state, provincial or local law.
- Laws vary. Weight limits, bridge formula rules, kingpin-to-axle limits, tolerances, permits and enforcement differ by state, road and situation, and change over time. The app’s defaults may not match the rules where you drive.
- You stay responsible. The driver, carrier and shipper remain fully responsible for safe loading, securement, legal weights, permits and compliance. Always confirm on a certified scale after any adjustment and before you travel.
- Use safely. Do not use the app while driving. Only adjust tandems or fifth wheels when it is safe and in line with your equipment manufacturer’s and employer’s procedures.
3. Free and Pro features
Free. Quick balance and one saved truck setup are free. We may change, add or remove free features at any time.
Axle Balance Pro is a paid subscription that unlocks extra features, which currently include the Load planner, bridge formula and kingpin checks, the slide advisor, scale ticket calibration and unlimited saved truck setups. Features may be improved or changed over time; if we remove a major Pro feature, we will tell you and you may cancel.
4. Buying Pro, billing and cancelling
- Payments. We sell Pro directly. Payments are processed securely by Stripe, our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number. Applicable sales tax is calculated and added at checkout. Your payment is also subject to Stripe’s terms for end users.
- Automatic renewal. Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price, using the payment method on file, until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel any time in the app (Get Pro → Manage subscription, which opens your secure Stripe billing page) or by emailing us. Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Price changes. We may change Pro pricing. Changes apply from your next renewal, and we will give you notice beforehand by email or in the app so you can cancel.
- Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
5. Your license key
When you buy Pro, you receive a license key. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use Pro on a limited number of your own devices while your subscription is active. You may not share, sell or publish your key. The app checks your key with our license server from time to time; if the subscription ends, is refunded or charged back, or the key is shared or misused, Pro will stop working.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- bypass, disable or interfere with the license check or other access controls;
- copy, resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the app or its code, or offer it as part of another product, without our written permission;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise try to derive the source code, server logic or underlying methods of the app — including the Load info, Fleet manager and sync key system — except to the extent applicable law expressly allows this despite this restriction;
- use the app, its design or its features to build, train or improve a competing product or service;
- access our servers or interfaces (including the license and fleet sync services) by automated means, or in any way other than through the app as we provide it;
- sell, publish or share sync keys outside your own driver–fleet relationship, or try to get around the limit on how many fleet accounts can use a key;
- remove or change any copyright, trademark or other notice in the app;
- use the app for anything unlawful, or to mislead regulators, enforcement officers, shippers or customers;
- attempt to disrupt the website or the services it relies on.
7. Your data
Your truck setups, weights and loads are stored on your own device, except for loads you choose to share through Fleet manager sync. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for keeping your own records. See our Privacy Policy for details.
8. Ownership and intellectual property
Axle Balance is the proprietary product of Gourdneck Valley Woodworking LLC. We (and our licensors) own all rights in it, including its software, server systems, design, layout, text, graphics, and the Axle Balance name, logo and tagline. Axle Balance™ and No Ads. Just Results.™ are trademarks of Gourdneck Valley Woodworking LLC.
The methods and server-side systems behind Axle Balance — including the Fleet manager sync service, how sync keys are created, limited, expired and replaced, how load boards are merged between a driver and a fleet, and the license system — are our confidential information and trade secrets. They are not disclosed to you by your use of the app, and nothing in these Terms grants you any right to them.
Subject to these Terms, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own trucking work (and, with Pro, for your fleet’s work). All rights not expressly granted are reserved. These Terms do not give you any ownership rights.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.
9. Availability and changes to the app
We try to keep Axle Balance available and accurate, but we do not promise it will always be available, error-free or compatible with every device or browser. We may update, change, suspend or discontinue any part of it.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Axle Balance is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and any warranty that results will match a certified scale or satisfy any law or regulation.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any fines, citations, penalties, overweight or permit fees, out-of-service orders, delays, lost loads, lost profits, vehicle or cargo damage, personal injury or property damage arising from or related to your use of, or reliance on, Axle Balance. Our total liability for any claim relating to Axle Balance is limited to the amount you paid us for Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50 if you have not paid anything.
Some places do not allow certain limits on warranties or liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the app, your breach of these Terms, or your loading and operation of any vehicle.
13. Ending these Terms
You can stop using Axle Balance any time. We may suspend or end your access to Pro if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms; if we do so without cause, we will refund the unused part of your current paid period.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at support@axlebalance.com and try to resolve it informally for at least 30 days. Any dispute that is not resolved will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Arkansas, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it locally. Either party may bring an eligible claim in small-claims court.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and for important changes we will give notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use Axle Balance after the change means you accept the updated Terms.
